Finding the problem is almost always tougher than fixing
it. With today’s sophisticated, computerized vehicle systems, profitable
driveability diagnosis is next to impossible without a good scan tool. But
test equipment can be expensive, and budgets can be tight these days.

A portable scanner is now as essential to the automotive
technician as a good set of wrenches. But up to now, you had to lay out
serious money for a scanner that could pinpoint driveability problems on 1996
and newer GM, Ford, Chrysler, Asian and European OBD II vehicles.
The OTC Palm Scan OBD II scanner module adapts the popular
Palm and Handspring PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) units to scan tool
troubleshooting, at a budget-pleasing price. The tester fits the palm of your
hand, and a couple of AAA batteries provide power, lasting up to four weeks,
depending upon usage.
The PDA is a natural for the shop. Applications will
continue to be written for PDAs in the coming years, to accommodate future
technologies such as wireless and internet upgrades and data interchange.

Finding intermittent failures is a snap. Up to now, you
